Leaf boat races

Build a boat from a leaf, a twig and a bark hull, then race it down a stream or a gutter of water.

How it goes

1. Each child chooses a piece of bark or a flat stick for the hull.
2. Add a twig mast and a leaf sail, pushed through or tied on.
3. Test it in a puddle or a tray of water: does it float upright?
4. Race the boats down a stream or a length of guttering.
5. Change the design and race again.
