Journey sticks

A stick becomes a map: children fasten a memento of each moment of the walk along it, then retell the journey from their stick — brilliant for language and memory.
How it goes
- Each child chooses a stick about the length of their forearm and wraps a band of wool or tape along it.
- As you walk, children tuck in or tie on one small memento per 'chapter' — a feather here, a leaf there.
- Pause at the end: each child retells the walk from their stick, in order.
- Extension: swap sticks and try to tell someone ELSE's journey.
