Bark and leaf rubbings

Paper on bark, the side of a crayon, and the pattern of the tree appears. Match each rubbing to its tree later.

How it goes

  1. Hold paper flat against a tree trunk (or tape it on).
  2. Rub the side of a peeled wax crayon over it until the pattern shows.
  3. Do the same with leaves laid vein-side up under paper.
  4. Label each one with the tree's name, or make one up.
  5. Shuffle the rubbings and see who can match them back to their trees.
