Square-lashed photo frames
Four sticks, one meter of string and a square lashing at each corner — a real knot skill smuggled inside a craft, finished with a woven nature picture.
How it goes
- Everyone finds four straightish sticks about 30 cm long.
- Teach one square lashing slowly at the first corner; children do the remaining three.
- Weave wool loosely across the frame to make a 'canvas'.
- Tuck found treasures into the weave: leaves, feathers, seed heads.
- Hang the gallery from a low branch for pick-up time.
